So it's been a few weeks since my last victory blog. Here are the vitals since then:
Lost 10 lbs. Have been running consistently (at least 5 times a week) for 20-25 minutes each, and have come to love it. Weight Watchers has become, this time for me, a lifestyle change that has had my brain working overtime lately- and in a really good way.
This weekend I took 2 students of mine (3 if you count my lovely Jessica from St. Chris, who hung out with us that weekend, too) to convention at the Adam's Mark Hotel. While it was a spiritually and mentally renewing weekend, it definitely was NOT good for my waist line. Full "thanksgiving-styled" lunches, late-night pizza orders for the kids (which I of course fell to temptation and joined in on), snacks and hotel restaurant meals. And of course, found it incredibly difficult to track my food when I had so much more to take care of, even when we were eating...
However, I was a good girl...to an extent. I limited myself to 2 smaller slices of pizza (when I could normally eat 3-4 large slices). I told my students about my "project brides maid dress" and everytime I mentioned that I wanted a snack they would just say "But Miss S- remember- project brides maid!" What awesome students they are! When we were served our "Thanksgiving Dinner" for lunch, I made a plate full of salad with veggies and tomatoes, added two slices of turkey and a light dressing over it and threw some cooked carrots on the side, and forget the soda- went straight for the water. When dinner at the restaurant came up, I studied the menu carefully and after making my choice of grilled chicken (make your own) fajitas, slowly enjoyed the food and paid more attention to great conversation than scarfing down my meal. Found myself with a skillet still full of food but a stomach pleasantly satisfied. With the help of my "super foods" of fruits and veggies that I packed before I left, I snacked on 0-point foods when I was hungry in between.
Now back, I know that even despite the choices I made, I have to own the fact that the food prepared, was NOT in my best interest at this convention. I'm fully prepared for a gain- I've journal-ed it for the past several days in my food tracker. Heading STRAIGHT back to the gym, following this wonderful weekend away, and during the day (it's nice being on Feb. break from school!) I've given myself all the time I need to work this stuff off, so the scale won't reflect a food addict, but rather someone who was conscious of the choices they made even if I'm up a little, and still did "penance" for their actions.
Today I met another victory though, aided by the help of a few magazines and a radio in my ear, I ran for 35 minutes straight, with 30 second stops about every 5-8 minutes for a quick gulp of some fabulously cold H2O, and when all was said and done, 2.75 miles had passed me by.
Needless to say, despite any flaws in my plan this week, I still feel that things are going great. It's nice to have space between my stomach and the steering wheel of my car. It's nice to see my jackets/ coats/ shirts/ pants a little large. It's nice to have someone see you after a while and say "you look FABULOUS!" It's really wonderful to hear your parents say "We were looking at pictures from Andy and Kelly's engagement party and if you need ANY physical proof that you're doing a great job- look at this."
Yes, I'm proud of what I've done. The bride's maids dresses are in- I'll be picking mine up on Thursday/ Friday. I think that will be the real test of how far I've come. But until then, I'm really happy.
Until next time...peace!
