Now, normally once a week Allie and I like to go out for dinner and just not have to worry about cooking dinner or dishes or stupid stuff like that. Last night, the restaurant choice was Olive Garden. Whilst debating if I wanted to just let go, give up for one night and have some mouth-watering alfredo sauce and lots of chicken and 10 lbs of noodles.... oooor if I wanted to go the "safe route" and have some salmon (your basic leaner go-to dish) that I could, then, cut in half, and eat a partial plate...I decided to go on a gut feeling and try their new seafood Brodetto....
Now, I knew it was in some sort of a tomato-ey sauce and wasn't really looking forward to it because I really think that Olive Garden makes some incredibly sweet tomato sauce for their dishes. However the server assured me that it was more of a "stew"-like sauce: much lighter, thinner, and did have broth in it, as well. It came with lots of veggies in it, a small Tilapia filet with scallops and shrimp and fresh spinach leaves.... O..M..G.... talk about a purely delicious and FILLING dinner. When I got home (after eating the whole damned bowl), I looked it up online and calculated the points- only 7 points! I actually had points left over (even after eating a bread stick and salad before hand).
Can we say exciting? This was almost better than finding out that a slice of Wegman's ultimate White cake was only 9 points! lol.
So, dear Olive Garden, thank you for a delicious meal and this wonderfully pleasant surprise of how much healthier your food actually can be! :-)
